It is good.

  1. Ah my god. It is SUCH. SUCH an amazing book. I mean, I have been meaning to read 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep' for a fucking aeon. I dearly dearly love Bladerunner, the amount of levels you can approach the film on - beautiful. But Ubik, OH MY SHIT.

Wow. The 3rd person narrator obviously keeps you away from the actual story and the intermittent adverts from the product 'Ubik' at each chapter tease you yet you don't know what is going on, everything seems formulaic til a point. Madness descends. You think okay cool, then there's a twist that sort of tickles your balls and you're like 'oh shit this rules because I just worked it out and you've tickled me somewhat' and then when you think that's figured out it goes upside down again.

Then. When you analyse it for a presentation. Parables/metaphors/similies jump out at every angle. This book is ubiquitous (as is the name) as well as oblique yet completely binding. It can mean everything as easily as nothing. It's fucking intense. Mind bending. I now don't know where to start my presentation - perhaps less than before I read it. What a brilliant brilliant bastard Phillip K. Dick is.
